6 COMMON MISTAKES YOU SHOULD AVOID WHEN TRAVELLING ABROAD - SAKSBY.com
Traveling internationally is one of the most common bucket lists for everybody. It is a thrilling experience especially if it is your first one. You shop for the perfect suitcase, plan for a hotel to stay and even search for travel inspirations. Everything seems to be perfect until this common mistake happens to you.

Here are the international travel mistakes.

1. OVERPAYING FOR YOUR PLANE TICKETS

There’s a lot of advice on the internet on how to save for your plane ticket. One of them is getting your ticket in advance, at least 3-6 from the time of departure date. Everyone knows buying a last-minute plane ticket is so much more expensive than buying in advance. But the price can change from time to time, so you might want to keep track of the prices every day. It is better to compare prices from different travel agencies so you can get the best deal they are offering.

Be aware of what type of ticket you are getting. Make sure that you know what are the restrictions of your ticket whether it is refundable, non-refundable, or exchangeable. In that way, if ever there’s a change in your plans then you know what to do.

2. FORGETTING YOUR PASSPORT

I know it’s almost impossible to forget your passport but trust me sometimes it happens. I worked with a travel agency before and this is one of the reasons some of my clients want to rebook their flight or even cancel it because they were not able to board the airplane.

Make sure all the important documents are placed in a bag. Like your passport, Visa, or anything that is importantly related to your travel. I’m sure it will be a bad experience if this happens to you.

3. NOT ABLE TO GET A VISA

If you are a citizen of the United States, United Kingdom, or European Union, you might be taking advantage of those travel agreements you have with a lot of countries. So much so that you might not even think of getting a Visa.

Depending on the country you will travel to, this could be one of those international travel mistakes.

Getting an entry visa is a simple task to do. But in some other countries with strict travel policies, it could take weeks or even months to get that paperwork. Not to mention that you have to wait for approval before you can travel.

4. BRINGING TO MANY THINGS

I know that you are very excited to take a photo wearing your favorite clothes in places you go. Flexing your fancy outfits and making those moments the best in your life. But before all of that, you should consider the weight that you are allowed in your luggage.

Usually, for international travel, you are allowed to bring two pieces of luggage and that is 50 pounds each. But you may have to double-check with the airline before you pack things up to avoid problems during check-in.

5. RUNNING OUT OF PHONE BATTERY

If you are traveling alone, your phone will be your best friend all throughout. From the time the airplane lands at your travel destination until you return home.

You depend on your phone to know where to go. You also need your phone to take photos, translate menus, look up train schedules and contact a person if needed.

6. EXCHANGING CASH AT AN AIRPORT CURRENCY BOOTH

Currency exchange booths at every international airport are the most convenient option for exchanging money.

Currency exchange companies are very keen to exploit our international travel mistakes by offering lousy exchange rates at airport booths. Aside from costing you more, these airport booths are rarely open for 24 hours.

CONCLUSION

I hope these suggestions will help you in your future travels. Going on an international trip is so memorable if none of these things I mentioned above happen to you. Safe travels!
